Glengala Primary School is a small primary school located in West Sunshine, 24kms from Melbourne on a large well developed site. We are blessed to have a highly diverse population, with families from many different cultural backgrounds. We enjoy celebrating cultural events, and finding ways to bring our community together as a welcoming, open and tolerant family. Our small size – currently around 180 students – means we can cater to each child individually, understanding them not only academically, but personally, to better support their growth and development.
We are lucky to have a large site which allows for ample outdoor space including a soccer oval, cricket oval, numerous play equipment areas, sandpits, synthetic running track, netball & basketball courts, bat tennis and down ball courts, a large vegetable garden and fruit orchard along with plenty of passive and imaginative play spaces. Our students and teachers make good use of the spaces available, with learning taking place both inside and outside the classrooms.
Currently our school operates 4 classes along with the specialist areas of Art, Music, Physical Education & Science. Our classes are structured as flexible, open learning spaces, with multiple teachers working in a team-teaching capacity in each learning space. Our teacher to student ratio is approximately 1:18 and we hope to maintain that ratio in the near future. Our teachers provide targeted learning to meet each student’s need, including enrichment, intervention & extension. Our staff members are enthusiastic, friendly, approachable and committed to achieving the best learning outcomes for all of our students.
