Thank you to the school community for my warm welcome back. My trip was wonderful and a great chance to explore parts of the world I had never seen, have some special time together as a family before my son starts school next year and also recharge my batteries.
It has been fantastic catching up with students, staff and parents over the past week. Hearing all about the many achievements, excursions and incursions, the AMAZING school concert, 100 Days of Foundation and many other wonderful things that have been happening during my leave helped me get my head back into work mode.
A huge THANK YOU to Sam Fleming who stepped into my role as Acting Principal during my leave. Sam did a terrific job, even though life was very hectic she always had a smile on her face and dealt with whatever popped up in the professional and positive way we have seen from Sam since she joined our school in 2016. A big thank you also to our Leadership Team of Kate (Learning Specialist), Grant (Leading Teacher), Kellie (Business Manager) and Laura (Primary Welfare Officer) for supporting Sam. Thanks also to each and every staff member who supported Sam and our Leadership Team during this time. We are extremely lucky to have such an amazing, dedicated and professional staff at Glengala PS. We’re all here for the wonderful students and community of Glengala. #GlengalaProud
Enrolments 2019
Planning for next year has already started and is a complex process requiring accurate information. Learning Spaces, number of staff, Specialist Programs and all budget areas are based on student numbers. If you know your child is not returning to Glengala PS in 2019 (other than current Year 6 students), please notify the office in writing as soon as possible. Notification is required in writing and not verbally through the Learning Space teachers. Information will remain confidential. If you have a child or know of someone with a child due to commence school in 2019 please complete an enrolment form as soon as possible. We currently have limited spaces remaining for Foundation and the 3-6 Learning Spaces.
Staffing News
We are thrilled to let our community know that Sam Cunningham will be returning to our school throughout Term 4 in preparation for her fulltime return from the beginning of 2019! Sam has been on secondment to Central Office of The Department of Education and Training since mid-last year, and has developed great partnerships and knowledge which will assist in our continuing work to get the best growth and outcomes for our students. Sam Cunningham will return to the Assistant Principal Teaching & Learning role leading up Numeracy, while Sam Fleming will remain in the Acting Assistant Principal Teaching and Learning role leading up Literacy.
Swimming Program
Thank you to the 130+ students who have participated in our annual swimming program during the last two weeks. It’s been pleasing to hear everyone has demonstrated terrific behaviour and our school values during our 10 day intensive program. We have had great feedback from instructors and our staff on students listening to instructions, supporting each other and team work for getting to and from school and the pool. We have one final day of swimming tomorrow to finish the program.
End of Term
A reminder that tomorrow is the last day of Term 3 and we finish at 1.45pm. Please ensure that arrangements have been made for your children to be collected early on this day. KellyClub will be operating from 1.45pm, if you require this service please book by phoning Angela on 0423 795 982.
We seek your assistance in discouraging any people who may misuse our grounds over the holidays. If you happen to notice any person on our school grounds that are engaging in any type of dangerous or destructive behaviour please call the Police immediately on 000.
I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a restful and safe term break. I look forward to seeing everyone back at school on the Monday 8th October ready for a busy final term for 2018.
