NAPLAN – Year 3 and 5

Students in Year 3 and Year 5 have so far completed writing and reading NAPLAN testing this week. All testing has run smoothly, and students have taken the testing in their stride. Students will complete Conventions of Language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy on Monday and Wednesday respectively next week. As mentioned last week, please keep in mind that these tests provide only a snapshot of your child’s learning in specific areas, and do not capture your child’s passions and interests, their kindness and compassion or their dreams for the future. Election BBQ – Saturday 18th May

This Saturday, May 18th, the Glengala PS Library Learning Centre will be a polling place for the Federal Election. Polling will take place in our LLC. We will be holding a sausage sizzle fundraiser on the day. If you can spare any time to volunteer for the sausage sizzle on the day, please contact the office via email glengala.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au, by phone 9311 7810 or drop in between 8:30am and 4:30pm and complete the sign-up sheet. If you’re coming to Glengala to vote, join us for egg and bacon rolls in the morning, or a democracy sausage later in the day!

Book Fair and Education Week

Book Fair and Education Week will be celebrated at school next week. Book Fair will commence on Monday from 3:15 – 3:30 pm in the LLC. Orders can be made online or purchases can be made at the Fair.  On Thursday, come dressed as your future career!  Inquiry lessons will focus on student career interests on Thursday.  Just so you are aware, there will not be a parade.

 Attendance SMS

Attendance notifications are now being sent via SMS to families through Compass. If your child is marked absent on the roll, an SMS will be automatically forwarded to your phone at 9:30am if the school has not been contacted. You can notify the school via phone on 9311 7810, through Compass or via email to glengala.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au.

 School Tours and Enrolments

Tours for families interested in enrolling their child at our school in 2020 have begun! Please contact the office via email glengala.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au, by phone 9311 7810 to book a place.
