Whole School Concert – 2 WEEKS TO GO!

A reminder that Thursday 31st August we have our whole school concert at Sunshine Secondary College Senior Campus auditorium on Graham St. This concert is free and doesn’t require a ticket so we hope to see lots of our community on the night. Please arrive from 5.45pm for a 6pm start. The evening should be finished by approximately 7-7.30pm. I know students have been rehearsing for many weeks so I look forward to seeing them perform on the night.

2018 Enrolments & School Tours

We are currently conducting school tours for 2018 enrolments. We invite the community to take a tour where you will visit our Learning Spaces, Before & After School Care and spacious grounds.

Tours available every Thursday at 9.15am or at a time that suits you. Ph. 9311 7810

If you have a child due to start in 2018 please ensure you complete your enrolment ASAP.

Plovers

Our resident plovers have again nested on the oval with one regularly sitting on their eggs. Due to the nesting plovers, we have closed the large section of our oval, with only the soccer oval open for student use. No one likes being swooped by a territorial bird, but this is normal bird behaviour as part of protecting their eggs or young. Birds tend to swoop only for a short period, generally about 4-6 weeks, so if possible the best response is to keep away from the area during this time. We need to remember not to harm native birds as they are protected under the Wildlife Act. If you do end up in an area where there is a swooping bird, try to protect your head and eyes and move quickly through the area.

Parent Opinion Survey

Thank you to the 27 parents who have completed the Parent Opinion Survey. We have just over 1 week to go before the survey period closes. Each year every Victorian government school conducts an opinion survey of 15 per cent of their school community.  Parents are randomly selected to participate and we use the information to inform and direct our future school planning and improvement. If you are one of the randomly selected parents to receive a survey, we would really appreciate you completing and the survey ASAP.  It takes no more than 20 minutes and your feedback and opinions play an important role in making our school the best it can possibly be. The survey this year has moved online, we have laptops available for parents to use if you require them to complete the survey, just drop past the office to access our technology. Families who complete surveys will receive a canteen voucher for each of their children.

Parents and caregivers are very powerful figures in influencing the behaviours and attitudes of their children. If you have questions, feedback or are experiencing any difficulties please don’t hesitate to give myself or Sam a call, send us an email or come and have a chat.
