Semester 1 Reports & Student Learning Conferences

It will be terrific to see so many of our families and students at our Student Learning Conferences tomorrow. Our reports focus on student achievements throughout Semester 1 and looks at their goals for Semester 2 in English, Maths, Inquiry and The Arts. There is also a bigger focus on the importance of attending school regularly and student Reading Goals. Thank you to our hard working staff who have spent considerable time completing reports over the last few months.

A reminder that Thursday is a student free day.

Students ONLY attend their scheduled Student Learning Conference time.

Rebuild Update

Exciting work has been occurring on and off site for our new building over the course of the term. Further site clearing, site sheds and footings have begun to occur on site. The works off site are going extremely well with the new building potentially being trucked over and moved into place over the coming holiday break. If you’re in the area, pop past the school and check out the massive cranes and trucks used to bring in the pieces of our new building. This will mean when we return from the break we will be able to see our amazing new building on site. Works will continue throughout Term 3 with moving dates and an official open ing being scheduled as soon as possible.

School Tours

Tours of our wonderful school for families interested in enrolling their child in 2020 have begun. Tours will be conducted every Thursday morning at 9.15 until the end of the year or alternatively by appointment. If you would like a tour, have friends or neighbours who would like a tour please contact the school 9311 7810 or glengala.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au to book a place.

End of Term – Friday 28th June

It’s hard to believe but Friday the 28th June is the last day of Term 2, meaning we are already half way through the 2019 school year! Being the last day of term we finish earlier – 1.40pm. Please ensure that arrangements have been made for your children to be collected early on this day or booked into our After School program Kelly Club Glengala if you require it.

Friday will also be an out of uniform day with gold coin payment. All money raised will be going towards our Year 6 Graduation celebrations.

Staffing Update

Last week we completed the selection process for a new 3-6 Team Leader and Teacher.  Richard Amery was successfully appointed and will commence at the beginning of Term 3. Richard has extensive experience working in Australia and in the United Kingdom.  Richard will complete an induction program over the break so that we can hit the ground running from the start of term. Thank you also to Sam C who has been working as the Team Leader in 3-6 Learning Space since midterm.

On Friday we farewell Andrew O’Brien who has been working as an Education Support Groundskeeper over the last 12 months. We thank Andrew for his work over the last 12 months and wish him all the best for his future endeavours.

School Security

We seek your assistance in discouraging any people who may misuse our grounds over the upcoming holidays. If you happen to notice any person on our school grounds that are engaging in any type of dangerous or destructive behavior, please do not hesitate to call the police on 000.

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a restful and safe term break. I look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday 15th July ready for a busy Term 3.
