Glengala Gazette – Issue #2

Welcome Back!

How exciting to have all our wonderful students back at school, and to see so many families in the mornings and evenings!  You may have noticed that we have started a “Meet and Greet” process in all of our Learning Spaces, where all students are welcomed into their Learning Space by the staff with a hand-shake and a good morning.  We’re loving the happy vibe that this welcome has been bringing into the school and have noticed our Learning Spaces are more relaxed and ready to start the day.

Welcome to our new Preps

Our new Preps have now started full time with us, and joined us for their first assembly this week in front of the flagpoles.  We are very pleased with the wonderful start they have made, and feel confident that the testing that we have completed in literacy with them will enable us to target their learning needs from Day One.  They have also enjoyed their first session with their 5/6 buddies, had PMP, Art & Science and had a visit to Breakfast Club on Friday morning.  What a busy first week!

Pivotal Curriculum for Behaviour Management

In last week’s newsletter, we included a copy of the school’s new behaviour management plan.  A copy is also available on our school website at http://www.glengala.vic.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Parent_Version_GlengalaPS_Behaviour_Management_Plan-2.pdf.  This was developed in consultation with all staff, and has a focus on supporting and teaching our students to positively manage their behaviour, through developing new skills, learning calming techniques and being accountable for their behaviour choices.  Feel free to discuss any concerns or questions you may have with any of the Pivotal team; Sam C, Chris, Josie and Sarah.

School Review Parent Forum

As you may be aware, every four years, our school takes part in a review process to determine our progress over the previous four years, and to set goals for the four years coming.  Through this, we develop our School Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plans.  This Monday from 9.00 am we will be holding a Parent Forum for you to meet the Reviewer, Emma, and to provide any feedback that you may wish to give about the school.  You are welcome to bring young children.  Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.  We look forward to seeing you!

School Council

Would you like to have a say on the decisions that are made around our school?  You can do this through joining our School Council!  We meet approximately once per month and are now calling for nominations. We’d love to have you join us! Grab a form from the front office.

If you have any questions, feedback or are experiencing any difficulties, please do not hesitate to give Kris, Sam F or myself a call, send an email or come in and have a chat.
