A reminder MONDAY is a Curriculum Day.
No Students attend school on this day.
With the halfway point of the 2019 school year this week it is a great time to congratulate our students on their behaviour and leadership they have demonstrated throughout the year.
It is also a great time to remind students that our expectations remain the same – to be Respectful, Responsible and Safe in all their interactions and choices. These behaviours are clearly outlined in the School Wide Positive Behaviours Matrix. It is also vitally important that students follow staff member instructions at all times.
A reminder that every member of our school community is expected to demonstrate the same values and the behaviours outlined in our School Wide Positive Behaviours Matrix. This covers Learning Spaces, the Yard, Online and in all School situations.
Staff have been working on making our school expectations clearer, written in student friendly language and collectively owned. This work allows us to continue to improve our learning environment and will continue our success in improved student outcomes & growth.
Our Curriculum Day on Monday will be spent finalising all of this work, with Tuesday being the launch of a ‘fresh’ start for Semester 2. You will notice all of your children’s workbooks will come home on Friday, along with other items no longer needed. This will allow for all students to have the required items, in the state we require them, to continue for the year.
Some of the areas you will notice an increased level of expectation and reinforcement:
- Behaviour – Student, Families & Staff
- Workbook and corrections
- Learning Space layout and inclusions
- Yard Access and Use
- General Academic Emphasis
Families can continue to assist by discussing and reinforcing key messages and expectations.
Following rigorous selection processes a number of positions have been successfully filled. Rita Batras was successful in her application for the Foundation teacher position to release Elise to work across our F-2 Team. Rita was a student teacher here and has completed many days of work in our school so transitioned seamlessly into this role. Sab Fraternale is our new groundskeeper/maintenance person. He has worked in various schools and has a horticultural background, he commenced on Monday and will be on site Mon-Thurs. Finally we were very pleased to have secured Sam Fleming in our second substantive AP position at the end of Term 2. Sam has been successfully completing the role of AP for many years however was in an acting position. We’re very excited to continue to grow our Glengala family of staff.
