3-6 Camp
What a great time students & staff had at the 3-6 Camp at Doxa Malmsbury this week! They enjoyed archery, high ropes, bush walks, many laughs and made so many memories. Thank you to our staff – Claire, Elise, Gaye, Grant, Susie & Vin who gave their time and sleep to provide an exciting and educational camp experience for our students. Camp is an enjoyable time where students and staff are able to make vital connections; it is also a tiring time and requires significant extra commitment from our staff. Thank you to each of you – I know that students gain lots from this great opportunity and parents greatly appreciate it too. Thank you to our Camp Coordinator, Elise for organising camp. #GlengalaProud
Proud Prin
Congratulations to Sam for delivering the first whole day Professional Learning for over 25 Teachers, Leading Teachers, Learning Specialist, Assistant Principals and regional staff from across our Deer Park/Sunshine Network of schools last week. This was the first of five whole day sessions Sam will be delivering for the group over the next semester based in our LLC. Feedback received has indicated what we have known and get the benefit of every single day – that Sam has an extremely thorough knowledge base and a natural delivery style which supports easy uptake and engagement from all. Visitors also commented on our amazing LLC and new 3-6 & Foundation Learning Spaces. Another terrific example of #GlengalaProud in action!
Swimming Program
Notice regarding our 2018 Swimming Program will come home this week. Please return permission forms and a minimum of $20 deposit as soon as possible, places fill up very quickly. As with any program requiring payment, if you are experiencing difficulties paying please come and have a chat with Sam or myself. We will always find a way to make sure everyone is able to access our programs. Swimming will be held over the last two weeks of this term from Monday 10th September until Friday 21st September.
Whole School Concert – 6pm Thursday 30th August
A reminder to pencil into your diaries, mark it on your calendar or set a reminder in your phone that our annual Whole School Concert will be held at 6pm on Thursday 30th August at Sunshine Secondary College Senior Campus auditorium on Graham St. Students have already begun their rehearsals and excitement is building around the opportunity to again perform on the big stage!
Principal Leave
Beginning next Friday I will be taking some long service leave. During my absence, Sam Fleming will be Acting Principal. I would like to acknowledge and thank Sam for being prepared to take on this role during my absence. Sam will be supported by our Leadership Team of Kate (Learning Specialist), Grant (Leading Teacher), Kellie (Business Manager) and Laura (Primary Welfare Officer). The breadth of the team’s skills, knowledge and experiences in working with students, staff and our community will keep the school on track. I look forward to seeing you all when I return to school later this term.
Parents and caregivers are very powerful figures in influencing the behaviours and attitudes of their children. If you have questions, feedback or are experiencing any difficulties please don’t hesitate to give Sam or myself a call, send us an email or come and have a chat.
