Glengala Gazette – Issue #23

CONCERT TONIGHT

Everyone is very excited for the event of the year with our annual school concert tonight (8th August).  This is a free event for all our families to enjoy.  Our theme this year is Fantasy Land, which celebrates Disney and the joy of story telling.  It will be held at Sunshine Secondary College on Graham St.  Please note although this is a school event, students are not in the care of teachers. Parents or authorised guardians MUST BE PRESENT WITH CHILDREN.  Teachers must be informed when children are leaving the evening, and signed out.  Looking forward to seeing you there.

Parent Opinion Survey

It is that time of year again where the Department of Education seek feedback from members of our community to help support improvement and celebrate the achievements of the last 12 months here at Glengala.  Families have been randomly selected to participate in an online survey, which is due to close on 11th August.  If your family has been selected, you will have received an email with directions and a link to respond to your unique survey.  Your survey will appear in your selected language that is set on your browser or mobile device.  Thank you for taking the time to offer your insights. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Foundation Information Sessions

Our final Foundation Information session for 2020 enrolment will be held Wednesday August 28th, at 6pm. To avoid being placed on a waiting list for Foundation 2020, please contact the office as soon as possible to enrol.  If you have any friends or family who are yet to enrol for 2020, please pass this information to them and ask them to make contact promptly. This allows us to make staffing and resource allocation decisions to be as prepared as possible for a smooth start to 2020.

Athletics Trials Carnival 3-6 (weather permitting)

On Friday 9th August students in the 3-6 Learning Space will have an athletics trials selection for the Glengala Athletics team to attend the upcoming Network Athletics Carnival.  Geraldine will be in touch with families of those students who are selected to move forward to the Network Athletics Carnival.

Rebuild InformationStage 2

Our new Administration and Learning Spaces building is well underway.  The footpaths have been poured, planting boxes built and carpet is being laid.  We will be ensuring that everything is perfect before we move into our new spaces, and will keep you informed of a Grand Opening when the time comes.

Uniform

It is pleasing to see most students in full uniform.  A reminder that blue is our main colour, any undershirts can be the light blue of our polo shirts and pants and leggings must be navy.  There is a full range of affordable uniform available from the office, and local businesses including warm jackets to counter the cold winds during winter.  If you would like assistance with purchasing uniforms please come and speak to Kellie or Ling in the office.

School Hours – Before and After School Care

The school business hours are 8.40am to 3.30pm.  Students arriving at school between 8.40am and the time supervision commences at 8.45am, must attend Breakfast program in the Canteen Foyer. If your child requires to be at school before 8.40am or after 3.30pm, you must enrol your child in Kelly Club for access to Before and After school care.
