Glengala Gazette- Issue #24

SCHOOL CONCERT – THANK YOU FOR BEING OUR GUEST!

What a fantastic evening we had last Thursday, as we celebrated everything Disney at our 2019 Glengala School Concert! A very big thank you to everyone in our community who came along to support our students and once again make this one of our best events of the year. Congratulations and well done to Diana and the parents, staff and students who helped to put everything together, including making props and costumes. We hope that you will join us again at Concert 2020!

Foundation Information Session

Our final information session for students entering Foundation in 2020 will take place on Wednesday August 28th at 6 pm. If you or a friend have a child beginning school next year, please contact the office on 9311 7810 or drop in between 8:40 am and 3:40 pm to book your place. Enrolment forms will be available on the night, or from the office at any time. Enrol now to avoid being placed on a waiting list!

Network Athletics Carnival

Unfortunately, the wintry weather blast caused the cancellation of our school athletics carnival last week. The school team to participate at the upcoming Network Athletics Carnival has therefore been selected based on performances during H&P.E and permission notes have been sent home to all qualifying team members. Please ensure that permission note and payment are returned as soon as possible to the office. The network athletics carnival will take place at Newport Athletics Ground on Friday August 23rd.

Year 7 Transition 2020

All families of Year 6 students were notified of their child’s placement for secondary school in a letter that came home from me last week. A welcome and enrolment pack should arrive from the secondary school this week. Please come and see me next week if this pack has not arrived by tomorrow (Friday), or if you have any questions, or need assistance completing any documents.

School Expectations

As you are aware, we have been paying special attention to our school expectations around uniform, attendance, book work and behaviour this term. It is pleasing to see the improvement in all of these areas over the last 5 weeks – a true demonstration of what it means to be #GlengalaPROUD!

Rebuild Stage 2

Staff were very lucky to have a chance to walk through the new building last week. Fantastic progress has been made, and we are looking forward to the handover in just a short while. The finishing touches such as painting, carpet installation and cleaning are currently underway, and then we will be able to order furniture and complete landscaping and groundworks. Not much longer to go until we will be able to move in and enjoy our new spaces!

School Tours

School tours are held every week, on a Thursday at 9:15 am. Please contact the office on 9311 7810 or by email at glengala.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au if you wish to book in for a tour.  As always, if you have any celebrations, concerns or feedback you would like to share with us, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me, Sam F or Kris at any time. Have a fantastic week!
