New building update
We have now moved the administration, principal and student wellbeing teams into the new building, and new furniture is being delivered to enable us to set up all the spaces appropriately. This means that the old portable building is no longer being used, and any inquiries should be made to the office reception in the new building. Here you will find Kellie, Valerie and Ling, who can support you with enrolment, payments, uniform and any other issues. We are still waiting to transition our current F-2 students into the new buildings, this may happen later in Term 4 or at the start of the 2020 school year. Kermeen Street is now the main entrance to the school. Please note that the school gates on both Talintyre Road and Mudford St are locked between 9 am and 3 pm. If you need to come to the school between these times, please enter from Kermeen Street.
Building Awards Shortlist
In more exciting building news, our 3-6 Learning Space has been shortlisted for the 2019 Victorian School Design Awards. The Awards will be held later this year, and we will inform the community about the outcomes after the winners are announced.
Assessment Update
As part of our annual and ongoing assessment schedule, teachers are currently undertaking assessment in literacy and numeracy. This data is used to track their progress over the year, to quantify their growth over time, and also to plan learning sequences that meet the needs of students in the class. At Glengala Primary School, we collect, analyse and use data regularly to support and guide our teaching, to ensure that your child learns effectively, and shows growth across the year. If you have any questions about the assessment that we undertake, please feel free to talk to your child’s teachers, or to Kate, Sam F or myself.
Year 6 Graduation Fundraising
Year 6 students will be selling Zooper Doopers after assembly on Fridays to help raise funds for Graduation. Zooper Doopers cost $1. Any donations of packs of Zooper Doopers will be most welcome and can be left with Claire for the students to sell.
Foundation 2020 Enrolment and Transition Sessions
There are limited remaining opportunities for enrolment for Foundation 2020. Any families who have not yet done so are strongly encouraged to submit enrolment forms for their child to avoid being placed on a waiting list for enrolment. Our transition program for current kindergarten students will commence next week, on Tuesday October 29th at 2:15pm. During these sessions, students will meet teachers at the school, will participate in literacy and numeracy activities and meet new friends. These sessions are a vital part of your child’s start to school, and we look forward to welcoming you and your child into our Glengala family.

School tours are held every week, on a Thursday at 9:15 am. Please contact the office on 9311 7810 or by email at glengala.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au if you wish to book in for a tour.
As always, if you have any celebrations, concerns or feedback to you would like to share with us, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Kris, Sam F or myself at any time. Have a fantastic week!
