Foundation – Yr 2 Sleepover
Tomorrow night Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 students will eagerly return to school at 5.30pm to join in the fun of our annual sleepover. Every student I’ve seen this week has had a big smile on their face and haven’t stopped talking about it! Check out next week’s newsletter to see all the fun!
Staffing Update
I am pleased to let the community know we have been able to rollover all of our contract teachers for 2019! This means Rania, Milly, Keith, Nikki, Vin and Claire will be continuing as part of our Glengala Family in 2019. We are very fortunate to have dedicated and passionate staff at Glengala. Being able to secure the continuation of all of our Learning Space teachers will allow for continued relationship building and continued great outcomes for our students. Due to enrolment numbers we are currently advertising for teachers to join our staff, once this process is finalised we will be able to confirm 2019 staff placements and notify our community.
2019 Transition
This week we welcomed our 2019 Foundation students for their first transition visit to Glengala PS. It was terrific seeing our newest students and hearing their stories about kinder and their excitement about joining our school in 2019. We look forward to seeing our 2019 Foundation students each week. From mid-November we will also be having whole school transition sessions to allow students to step up into their 2019 Learning Space groupings. This will be a great opportunity for students to experience what it will be like in their 2019 Learning Space, complete transition activities and begin building relationships with a new group of students.
World Teachers’ Day
Last Friday we showed our appreciation for our wonderful teachers by celebrating World Teachers’ Day. School Council provided lunch and a gift voucher for teachers on behalf of our whole community to celebrate World Teachers’ Day. Students created giant cards for each of our 13 amazing teachers. I would like to say thank you on behalf of our staff; it was a great way to celebrate the day.
Wacky Wednesday ~ Year 6 Graduation Fundraiser
Thank you to everyone who came dressed up in a wacky way on Wednesday this week. It was great to see so many people supporting the fun of this day and raising funds for our Year 6 Graduation. It was wonderful seeing our staff and some parents getting into the fun too.
2019 Enrolments
If you know of any families who may be interested in enrolling at our wonderful school please encourage them to contact the school as soon as possible as we have limited places remaining for 2019. If you are planning on relocating at the end of this year and not returning to Glengala Primary School please let the school know by completing an exit slip at the office by Friday 16th of November.
Student Free Day
A reminder that Monday is a Student Free Day for all students and with the Melbourne Cup public holiday on Tuesday it will make for a 4 day weekend. Students will return next Wednesday 7th November. Kelly Club will be running a full day program on Monday 5th November for any families who require this service please contact Kelly Club via the front office or phoning 0423 795 982.
Parents and caregivers are very powerful figures in influencing the behaviours and attitudes of their children. If you have questions, feedback or are experiencing any difficulties please don’t hesitate to give Sam or myself a call, send us an email or come and have a chat.
