Glengala Gazette Issue #33

2020 Transition

This week we welcomed our 2020 Foundation students for their first transition visit to Glengala PS.  It was terrific seeing our newest students and hearing their stories about kinder and their excitement about joining our school in 2020.  We look forward to seeing our 2020 Foundation students each week until the Statewide Transition Day in December.

World Teachers’ Day

Last Friday we showed our appreciation for our wonderful teachers by celebrating World Teachers’ Day.  School Council provided lunch and a gift voucher for teachers on behalf of our whole community to celebrate World Teachers’ Day.  Students created giant cards for each of our amazing teachers. I would like to say thank you on behalf of our staff; it was a great way to celebrate the day.

Growth of Focus areas from 2018 Data:

  • Confidence and Resiliency Skills – 87% which is now equal to state average,

Thank you very much to all of the families who responded to this year’s survey. Your views are important to us and assist us in developing our School Strategic & Annual Implementation Plans.

Staffing Update

We are currently completing our selection processes for 2020 staff. Tomorrow students will say farewell to Nikki Daley who has worked in 1/2, 3-6 and H&PE roles over the last 2 years.  On behalf of students, staff and parents, I would like to thank Nikki for her support and work for our school and community and wish her all the best for her future endeavors.  Baz will take over as home teacher for 3/4N and work as a member of the 3-6 Learning Space teaching team for the remainder of 2019.  Tomorrow, we also welcome back Geraldine to H&PE from Long Service Leave.

2020 Enrolments

If you know of any families who may be interested in enrolling at our wonderful school please encourage them to contact the school as soon as possible as we have limited places remaining for 2020. If you are planning on relocating at the end of this year and not returning to Glengala Primary School, please let the school know by completing an exit slip at the office by Friday 16th of November.

Student Free Day

A reminder that Monday is a Student Free Day for all students.  With Melbourne Cup public holiday on Tuesday, it will make for a 4 day weekend. Students will return next Wednesday 6th November.  Kelly Club will be running a full day program on Monday 4th November for any families who require this service, please contact Kelly Club via the front office or phoning 0423 795 982.

Newsletter Transition to Digital Newsletter ONLY

The Newsletter will be going completely digital over the coming month.  In order to become more sustainable and reduce our recycling and waste production, we will be ceasing printing the newsletter.  Families will continue to receive the newsletter weekly on COMPASS and on our website.

Parents and caregivers are very powerful figures in influencing the behaviours and attitudes of their children. If you have questions, feedback or are experiencing any difficulties please don’t hesitate to give Sam, Sam or myself a call, send us an email or come and have a chat.
