Glengala Gazette – Issue #33

We’ve got that winning feeling!
This week, we were #GlengalaProud to discover that students in our 3/4 Learning Space won the ABC Splash Build a Spaceship competition.  Students from all around the country were invited to enter the competition, and act as chief engineers in designing and building spacecrafts using any material (e.g. cardboard, straws, tape, paper and so on), then record and upload a 30-second video showing it off and explaining its features and design. Congratulations to our winning team! You can find their winning entry at: http://splash.abc.net.au/home#!/competition/2382609/build-a-spacecraft-competition/2400946

On Monday, we welcomed the 2016 AFL Premiership Cup, won by the Western Bulldogs, into our school. The cup was brought to each learning space, where photos were taken. Our thanks (and congratulations!) to the Western Bulldogs for providing us with the opportunity to share their celebrations.

Monday and Tuesday – Student Free Days
A reminder that School Council has set aside Monday next week (October 31st) as a student free day, as we traditionally have few students attend school. Teachers and staff will be at school undertaking professional learning in literacy development, and the creation of curriculum documentation for the new Victorian Curriculum. Tuesday is a public holiday for Melbourne Cup, and the school will be closed on this day.
If you have any questions, feedback or are experiencing any difficulties, please do not hesitate to give Kris or myself a call, send an email or come in and have a chat.
