Glengala Gazette – Issue #37

Final Printed Newsletter

This newsletter marks the final paper printed copy, as we transition to a fully digital version from next week. We have chosen to make the move to a digital version only as it enables us to save money and resources, is better for the environment, and is more easily accessible for translation into other languages online. From next week, the newsletter can be accessed through Compass, or on our school website at http://www.glengala.vic.edu.au/.

Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser THIS SUNDAY – Volunteers needed!

We urgently require assistance to man the BBQ at Bunnings in Sunshine this Sunday, December 1st. If you can spare an hour or two to assist, please contact the office and leave your details. Bunnings BBQs are a big fundraiser for the school, and any support you can provide would be most welcome.

Maths Equipment Donation

We are very grateful to Jennifer, a retired maths equipment supply business owner, who has very generously donated a large amount of high quality new mathematics resources to the school. The resources will be catalogued and circulated into Learning Spaces in time for the beginning of the 2020 school year.

F-2 Learning Space Move

Staff and students in the F-2 Learning Spaces have now moved into their new rooms within the new north building. Thank you to everyone in the school community for your patience and support with this move. We have seen students become more familiar with and settled in their new spaces, which have increased opportunity for co-teaching and flexible learning to take place. We expect to see the temporary relocatables removed from the oval in the next few weeks.

Carols Evening – December 16th

All members of the Glengala Family are invited to join us for our annual Carols Evening, which will be held on Monday, December 16th. We invite you to bring a picnic rug and food and join us for a relaxed and low-key end of year community celebration.

A variety of food and drinks will be available for purchase from 5pm, and there will also be a gift stall for any last minute gift purchases.  Carols will begin at 6pm. The winners of our Christmas hamper raffle will be drawn at the conclusion of the night.

Staffing Update

It is with sadness that I inform the community that I will be leaving Glengala PS at the end of the year, and moving into another role in the education sector. I feel very privileged to have been at this school through this period of change, and to have seen the wonderful growth that has occurred. I’d like to thank the community for your support, and wish everyone the very best for the future. I will always remain #GlengalaPROUD, and look forward to hearing of the achievements of our students in the future.

As always, if you have any celebrations, concerns or feedback to you would like to share with us, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me, Sam F or Kris at any time. Have a fantastic week!
