THANK YOU to everyone in our community who has supported us throughout 2017. The school has had another big year with many events and massive announcements like our rebuild! We couldn’t do it without the support of our wonderful staff and parent community. 2018 is shaping up to be another exciting year at Glengala PS. We have a passionate, knowledgeable and dedicated team of staff on board to continue to move our school into 21st century teaching and learning approaches and a state of the art building opening half way through the year to match our teaching approach.
We wish our Year 6 students all the very best for the next stage in their education. We know they are now equipped with many skills and attitudes that will stand them in good stead to meet the challenges associated with moving to secondary school.
A whole school assembly will be held at 12pm tomorrow – Friday 22nd December in the LLC. We welcome all parents to join staff and students to farewell our Year 6 students as well as the staff that are moving on from Glengala PS. School will be dismissed for the year at 1pm following the assembly.
Thank you to our wonderful helpers Abida, Albert, Angela, Diana, Hang, Josie, Kellie, Phoebe, Sam & Sarah for giving their time on Saturday, at this extremely busy time of year, to help make the Bunnings BBQ a big success for the school as we made a profit of $1500 which is a great result.
Thank you to everyone who came along and supported our carols on Monday evening. We had a beautifully cool LLC to hold the event, students sang their best and a wonderful community atmosphere – it really was a fitting final community event for the year.
We seek your assistance in discouraging any people who may misuse our grounds over the holidays. If you happen to notice any person on our school grounds that are engaging in any type of dangerous, destructive or antisocial behaviour please do not hesitate to call the police on 000.
Start of 2018
Our school office will reopen on Monday 29th of January from 9am – 4pm. The office will be open for inquiries, uniform sales and school tours. As we start our school year with two curriculum days students in Year 1-6 will start school on Wednesday 31st of January and our Prep students starting on Wednesday 7th of February.
At the end of the year we have a few staff who will be leaving us. We say farewell to Wai Ping who has secured an ongoing teaching role in a brand new school in the Southern region of Melbourne. We farewell James, Sarah & Max who have picked up contracts at schools in the Western region of Melbourne for 2018. Paul & Jen will return to their base schools from 2018. We thank each of them for their contribution to our school over the time they have been with us. We will recognise each staff member’s contributions at our end of year assembly from 12pm on the last day of school.
We hope that everyone in our community has a safe and happy holiday break with their families and we look forward to seeing you in 2018.
