Term 1 really has flown by.
Teaching and Learning News
The statewide roll out of the Victorian Curriculum, which is Victoria’s version of the national Australian Curriculum, is now in full effect. Here at Glengala we began implementation of this during 2016 and are continuing to provide information as it becomes available to you. You can access the curriculum at www.vcaa.vic.edu.au and navigate through the Parent tabs to Curriculum. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to come see me.
100% Attendance
It was great to see 100% attendance across our Prep, Year 1, Year 2, Year 4 and Year 6 groups on Wednesday last week!
Students who miss 15 days of school a year (which is 5 days a term) end up missing half a year of school by the end of Year 6! Consistent attendance builds relationships with friends, allows for better opportunities to learn and students feeling connected to their school.
Easter Egg Raffle and Donations
With Easter approaching it is time for our annual Easter Egg Raffle. Families have received a book of raffle tickets to sell to enter the draw for Easter Prizes drawn on the last day of Term 1. We are now accepting donations from families for products to include in our raffle as prizes. Items such as chocolate easter eggs, boxes of chocolates and easter themed products have been donations in the past. Our raffle is dependent on the generosity of our families, and we thank you for all donations. Donations will be pooled together as hampers, or individual prizes dependent on the level of donations received. All donations can be dropped off to the Office from today.
Harmony Day
Harmony Day will be celebrated at Glengala on Wednesday the 22nd March. Learning Spaces will be participating in activities to celebrate our cultural diversity. Students will enjoy sharing traditional foods from their cultures during our learning space lunches. Teachers will be sending home further information closer to the date.
