What is Literacy Boost?

If you have students in the 3-6 Learning Space you may have heard them talking about participating in “Boost”. When you hear the word Boost you may think of the words; help, support, push, up, lift, promote, foster and grow. During Semester 1, we are trialing an initiative whereby we are increasing the number of educators in a space to support further growth for our students. This means that during literacy time (9am-11am Monday to Thursday), there are 12 educators in the 3-6 Learning Spaces. This includes Grant, Shaik, Claire, Vin, Nikki, Di, Haylie, Bec, Geraldine, Gaye, Hang, Jenny and Sam F.   Some students are participating in Guided Reading, EAL Language Support, vocabulary instruction and/or specific target intervention, as well as their regular learning with work on Reading (both Explicit Teaching of skills and strategies and independent reading), Writing (genre, spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Speaking and Listening. If you have any questions, ask your child to explain their work in Literacy, or come see Sam F, Grant or any of our passionate educators.
