Glengala Gazette – Issue #20

With fond memories…

It is with fond memories that we remember Jackie, our school crossing lady.  Sadly, Jackie passed away during the recent school holidays.  Jackie was a dedicated and caring member of our school community for over 40 years, and her friendly face in the morning and afternoon will be missed by many.  As a school we extend our deepest sympathies to Jackie’s family and friends.

Condolence cards have been placed at the front office for members of our community and students to sign or to write a personal message, if they wish.  These cards will be at the office until till the end of July, after which it will be offered to Jackie’s family.

Please note there is information about how to support your child with what to say when someone dies if you require it.  Please call Sam, Kris or Phoebe if you require any information.

Staff Welcome

We welcome a new Physical Education teacher, Jen, to the Glengala Family. Jen will be teaching Health and PE on Wednesdays and Thursdays across the school.  If you see Jen out and about we are sure she would appreciate a warm hello and welcome to Glengala.

Pyjama Day

This Friday our Junior School Council are celebrating National Pyjama Day supported by the Pyjama Foundation.  National Pyjama Day is not only an excuse to stay in your jammies all day, but it’s also a great reason to get together with family, friends and colleagues to help raise funds for State Schools Relief.  Gold coin donations will be greatly accepted.

Coffee, Cake and Chat with Phoebe

At the end of Term 2 we welcomed Phoebe our Community Liaison to Glengala.  Phoebe will be at school 3 days a week; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  She is able to help families access services in the community, provide support regarding family and parenting needs and to work with our students to assist their emotional and social development.  Phoebe will be hosting regular Coffee, Cake and Chats that all community members are invited to.  Our first Coffee, Cake and Chat is Thursday 20th at 2.45pm in the Library Learning Center foyer.  Interpreters may be made available if you require one and would like to attend; please book an interpreter through the front office.
